Legislator Wants ‘Knockout Game’ Law to Pack a Punch

The ‘knockout game’ is when one person tries to knock someone out in one punch. That someone is typically a random stranger and a Connecticut representative who is also a police sergeant wants to strengthen the penalties associated with the ‘game.’

State Rep. Joe Verrengia, D-20, and the Public Safety and Security Committee are hosting a public hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 11.

One of the bills that will be addressed is SB 429, an act establishing a ‘knockout game’ assault as a class D felony. The potential bill would transfer children of at least 16 years of age who are charged with the 'knockout game' assault to the regular criminal docket of the Superior Court.
