State Rep. Takes Simulated Firefighter Training

Brian Becker (D-Avon, Farmington, West Hartford) recently complete the day-long 'Fire Ops 101' program.

State Representative Brian Becker (D-Avon, Farmington, West Hartford) experienced first hand the stresses, strains, and responsibilities of firefighters while going through simulated, typical firefighters’ duties.

Fire Ops 101 Day put Becker and other participants into the heat of battle, responding to a structure fire, motor vehicle accident, and an emergency medical incident at the City of Hartford Fire Department Training Center.

“There is no substitute for this first-hand experience and the lasting memory of the urgency with which these men and women respond to emergencies, make decisions, and execute what they’ve been trained to do – saving lives and protecting property in the process,” Becker said. “I’m always so grateful to professional and volunteer firefighters throughout the state who routinely risk their own safety, and after ‘doing-what-they-do’ in the line of duty I appreciate even more that work and the dangers they face.”
