State Senator Beth Bye (D-West Hartford) accepts one of two "Friends of the Family Award" from the Connecticut Family Resource Alliance on Friday, April 5, 2013 in the State Capitol in recognition of her advocacy on behalf of quality early childhood programs in Connecticut, including her successful effort last year to have 10 new family resource centers included in the biennial state budget.

"Talk is cheap. We have to hold our public policymakers accountable, including myself, and we have to have conversations about where we are now with early childhood education and how far we have to go considering the limited resources we have," she told the crowd.
