Steven Adler Will Not Seek Reelection

After six years on the West Hartford Town Council, Adler has decided not to run for a fourth term.

West Hartford Town Council member Steven Adler announced Monday that he will not seek reelection in November.

In a letter dated Monday, June 3, Adler expressed his thanks to the residents of West Hartford for the privilege of serving on the Town Council for the past six years, saying "this has been an experience of a lifetime, filled with positive learning opportunities while participating in the governing process, whether it was on budgetary matters, reviewing new business applications or helping a resident solve a problem."

Adler said that as a result of his service to the town, he has developed a deep appreciation of "all our dedicated employees that help our children grow, keep our families safe and make our community a very special place to call home."

Adler was elected to his three terms on the Town Council as a Republican, but in January left the Republican party and became "Unaffiliated." Adler, who works as Manager of Privacy & Compliance for UnitedHealthcare's Legal, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Practice, indicated that the partisan conflict over the fiscal cliff is what cemented his decision.

Adler also said that he is very grateful to his wife, Darlene, and son, Josh for their dedication and patience.
