West Hartford Republicans Announce Endorsements for 2011 Election

Slate includes a combination of incumbents and newcomers.

Endorsements for the 2011 municipal election have been announced by the Republican Town Committee, following their meeting last week.

All nine seats on the West Hartford Town Council expire this November, and each party can nominate up to six candidates to run for those positions.

Current West Hartford Town Council members Denise Berard Hall, Steven Adler, and Burke Doar were endorsed for reelection. They will be joined by Town Council candidates Ethan Goldman, a manufacturing executive and resident of West Hartford for over 20 years; Peter Martin, a local Hartford attorney and chairman of the West Hartford Republican Town Committee; and Jay Sarzen, senior manager for business consulting at MassMutual.

A total of three Board of Education seats are up for reelection in November, and each party can nominate up to two candidates. At least one of those seats must go to a member of the minority party.

Ellen Brassil, who has previously served on the West Hartford Board of Education, was nominated to complete the term of departing board member Diane Mudge, who is moving to Farmington. Brassil was also endoresed to run for the Board of Education seat in the November election.

Newcomer Tiffany Grossman was endorsed by the Republican Party to run for Town Clerk.  

In a news release, West Hartford Republican Party Vice-Chairman Matt Connelly said, "We have an excellent team of Republican councilors and board members and we are particularly excited about the enthusiasm, expertise, and unique perspectives our candidates will present to the community. We are confident that the full measure of the quality of our candidates will be realized by voters when they have the opportunity to meet with them and will give us the best opportunity to build upon the success of our current Republican team."
