Vermeer, Macbeth, and Sleepy Hollow

FAIRFIELD, CT- Get your calendars out and a pencil in your hand! The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts is bringing three very exciting events to the theatre that you must come and see.

 

The Quick Center is a screening of the film Vermeer and Music: The Art of Love and Leisure”, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2013. The film, shown in HD, examines the life and work of Johannes Vermeer, (1632-1675), the celebrated Dutch 17th century master. It also focuses on the recent retrospective exhibition at The National Gallery, London, and is part of EXHIBITION, a series of films, which bring world famous art exhibitions to the big screen. Tickets are $15, general admission; $10, student and child; and $5 for Fairfield University faculty, staff, and students.

Next on our agenda is NT Live: “Macbeth”, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., Thursday October 17, 2013.  National Theatre Live will broadcast Manchester International Festival's production of Macbeth, with Kenneth Branagh (My Week With Marilyn, Hamlet) in his first Shakespeare performance in over a decade as Macbeth, and Alex Kingston (Doctor Who, ER) as Lady Macbeth. Directed by Rob Ashford and Kenneth Branagh, this electrifying new production of Shakespeare's tragic tale of ambition and treachery unfolds within the walls of an intimate deconsecrated Manchester church. Come down to the Quick Center for a front-row seat to the London stage! Tickets are $25, general admission; $20, seniors; $15 students/children; $10 for groups of 10 or more students.

Only a few days later, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” based on the classic story by Washington Irving will be playing at the Quick Center on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. Join Ichabod Crane, Brom Bones, the lovely Katrina Van Tassel, the residents of Tarry Town and, oh yes, the Headless Horseman, as they live the story made famous by the legend. This autumnal classic is one you won't want to miss! This event is recommended for people ages 5-10. Tickets are $18, adults; $15, children. Also, Don't forget your costume! Come early to participate in the Quick Center's annual Halloween costume contest!
