University of St. Joseph Buys Parcel in West Hartford for $1.8 Million

Land abuts Albany Avenue and the school's athletic center.

The University of St. Joseph has acquired 6.5 acres of land adjacent to its West Hartford campus, according to a university spokeswoman.

Laura Sheehan, the university’s vice president for marketing, media and communications, said in a telephone interview that the university acquired the parcel that abuts Albany Avenue and the school’s athletic center from Mercy Community Health for $1.8 million.

Sheehan said that in the future the school plans to develop the land in a manner consistent with its mission. Those plans, however, are merely in the discussion phase, Sheehan said.
