Riverfront Rowers Earn Medals At Two Weekend Regattas

On Saturday, October 12th, 50 adult Riverfront rowers attended the 20th Annual Head of the Housatonic Regatta at Indian Well State Park in Shelton, CT. Ian Marchaj and Scott Pape medaled in the Masters Open-Weight Single and Light-Weight Single events, respectively. 

On Sunday, October 13th, 90 rowers from Riverfront’s High School Rowing program competed in USRowing’s 4th Annual New England Junior and High School Regional Championship Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, MA.

The Boys’ 1st Varsity 4+ won the bronze medal. Rowers included Kevin McCauley (Conard), Jack Flege (Conard), Jack Costello (Conard), and Brian McCauley (Conard). The boat was steered by Chris Sacoccio (Avon).

The Boys’ 2nd Varsity 8+ earned the gold medal. Rowers were Jack Shea (Northwest Catholic), Barrett Shea (Northwest Catholic), Ryan Anthonypillai (Watkinson), Matt Sapieha (Classical Magnet), Klaudio Jovani (Capital Prep), Bryce Lapane (Classical Magnet), Joe Duva (Conard), and Connor Linskey (Watkinson). Matt McCauley (Sedgwick) was coxswain.

The Novice Girls’ 4+, steered by Lily Forand (King Phillip), won the bronze medal. Rowers included Alex Tomb (Hall), Alanna Uthgenannt (Conard), Alexis Alvarez (Hall) and Elizabeth O’Hara (Northwest Catholic).
