Riverfront Rowing - August Classes and Clinics

The Riverfront Recapture High School Rowing Program is comprised of 8th-12th grade students from 25 high schools and middle schools in the Hartford area. The Riverfront Rowing program runs year-round, including beginner through advanced sweep rowing and sculling classes, clinics led by college coaches, fall and spring competitive racing teams, and winter training. 

Listed below are the variety of beginner through advanced sweep rowing (4 - 8 rowers per shell, each using 1 oar) and sculling (1, 2, or 4 rowers per shell, each using 2 oars) classes and clinics being offered by Riverfront during August to students in 8th-12th grade. 

Sweep Rowing Classes - Beginner, Intermediate, Experienced
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday  3:30 - 5:00 pm

Sculling Classes - Beginner, Intermediate, Experienced
Monday/Wednesday  8:00 - 9:00 am

College Coaches Clinic for Beginner, Intermediate, and Experienced Rowers and Coxswains
This dynamic clinic is led by top college rowing coaches. Beginner rowers and coxswains receive an introduction to all aspects of the sport. Experienced rowers and coxswains improve their command of an effective stroke and their ability to efficiently move the boat. Student to coach ratio is 9:1. Clinic includes rowing, post-row discussions and video analysis, and presentations on topics such as training, erging, nutrition, and college admissions. Participants receive lunch and a t-shirt.

Hartford and East Hartford Public School Students
Hartford and East Hartford public high school and middle school students are eligible to row at no cost, thanks to a partnership with the City of Hartford, corporate and foundation grants, and civic support.
