West Hartford - Under warm clear skies and with no threat of rain, Saint Brigid School (SBS), recently celebrated their annual outdoor “Back-to-School” picnic. Saint Brigid is located on 10 acres of luscious green grass. The perfect setting for a picnic!
While parents relaxed on their lawn chairs and picnic blankets, some of the students played football, soccer, and Tag-Your-It. As the evening progressed, a very lively crowd of students attempted to teach their families, friends, faculty, and alumni the line-dance the Cha Cha Slide. At one point, Principal Shevon Hickey jumped right in the middle and kept right up with the students – never missing a beat!
New England professional disc jockey extraordinaire, Joy-Cee B., kept everyone on their feet, as they played games and danced all evening. Everyone enjoyed the latest sounds from Pop to Hip Hop, R & B to Reggae, and the up tempo beats of Latin music. It was definitely fun for everyone.

Capping off the evening, Saint Brigid Church’s Knight of Columbus were a big hit with the kids and many of the adults. The Knights served free all-you-can eat ice cream sundaes with all the toppings, while the Ladies Guild served great tasty homemade cookies.
Exclaimed Hickey, “We wanted an old-fashioned picnic – plus a little music, along with some great weather; and that’s absolutely what we had. Everyone had a great time. I couldn’t have wished for a better evening!”

DJ Joy-Cee B., is better known as: Joyce Bennett-Gibson, SBS parent of fifth-grade student Jadyn Gibson. Smiling broadly, DJ Joy-Cee B. enthusiastically stated, “It’s all for the kids. They’re happy, so I’m happy.”
