WEST HARTFORD – With a great deal of excitement Saint Brigid School (SBS) students returned on Wednesday, August 28 for the first day of school. Standing at the entrance of the school was Principal Shevon Hickey, as she warmly greeted and hugged many of her students and their parents as they entered the building.
Directly after the morning prayer and special announcements, Principal Hickey hosted a “Welcome Back-to-School Meet & Greet” event for parents in the library. Many first-time and returning parents enjoyed an opportunity to socialize with Principal Hickey in a relaxed atmosphere. Attendees enjoyed an early morning array of delicious baked goods as well as a variety of beverages. Saint Brigid’s Monsignor Douglas P. Clancy was also in attendance and captivated parents with his insightful humor.

Principal Hickey stated, “Here at Saint Brigid School our families are very important to us. Just as the first day of school is a celebration for our students, we also make it a celebration for our parents. The parents were excited to meet both myself and Monsignor Clancy.”

“As a family the first day of school was a very big moment for all of us.” According to Bloomfield resident and grandparent Jim Carter, “It was great to see Principal Hickey standing there greeting us first thing in the morning.
“During the “Meet and Greet” parents were already signing-up either to lead or volunteer for several of our upcoming fundraisers. It was the perfect start for our first day of school. It was such a blessing to see such enthusiasm so early in the morning everyone wanted to help out,” exclaimed Principal Hickey!
First-time SBS parents Jorge and Kathleen Wolff echoed Hickey's sentiments, "We're excited to be here. Saint Brigid has also made our family feel important and welcomed as well."
