A Warm Back-to-School Welcome In West Hartford

School district welcomes 9,900 kids from pre-school to 12th grade.

Administrators and teachers welcomed 9,900 students back to West Hartford public schools on Wednesday morning.

At Morley Elementary, students sang "Happy Birthday" to the school, which is celebrating its 86th year.

"We will continue to excel academically," Principal Ellen Stokoe told her enthusiastic charges.

To commemorate the oldest school in the district as well as the new academic year, six students presented a wish as to how the children will conduct themselves - with responsibility, respect, kindness, caring, fairness and good citizenship.
