Charter Oak Takes Part in National School Lunch Week

Representatives from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture read "Who Made My Soup" to second graders on Wednesday.

The Charter Oak International Academy welcomed Jane Slupecki and Eleanor Provencal from the Department of Agriculture Department to read the book, “Who Grew My Soup” to second graders on Wednesday.

The event was part of National School Lunch Week to help educate students about healthy choices as well as where their food comes from.

After Provencal read the book - which tells the tale of young Phineas Quinn’s efforts to get out of eating a healthy meal, only to learn it’s delicious - students were treated to a lunch prepared by Hunter Morton, executive chef at Max Downtown.
