The Conard High School girls basketball program held its first "Alumni Weekend" on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 4 and 5, in West Hartford, and the team hopes to make this an annual event.
More than 20 alumni, including a former head coach, participated in the festivities.
The alumni attended Friday's game against New Britain and had a pizza social with the current team following the game, which the Chieftains won 57-55.
On Saturday, participants had breakfast as well as an alumni scrimmage against the 2012-13 varsity and junior varsity teams.
Former head coach Rod Steier, who led the program from 1994-98, also participated. Katherine Edlund (formerly Horner), class of 1986, was the "oldest" alumnus to attend while Jessica Shepherd, Stephanie Morales, Samantha Kradas, and Margo McDonough from the class of 2012 were the "youngest" to take part in the weekend activities.
