Ballet Theatre Academy Announces Course Offerings and Open House for Fall 2011

‘Open House takes place August 27, 2011 

Ballet Theatre Academy, the training division of Ballet Theatre Company , a not-for-profit organization, will hold its open house day for the fall term, Saturday, August 27th at its studio located at 20 Jefferson Ave., West Hartford.  These classes are abbreviated and can serve as a new student’s class placement assessment.  Open house classes are as follows:  Ages 3 & 4 at 10:00 am to 10:30 am, ages 5 – 7 at 10:30am to 11:00 am, ages 8 – 11 at 11:00 am to 11:45 am and ages 12 and up at 11:45 am to 12:45 pm. Our pre-professional ballet curriculum offers classes at all technical levels beginning with Creative Movement for 3 and 4 year olds. The ballet curriculum accommodates children and adults of all technical levels and is a flexible curriculum based on American Ballet Theatre’s national standardized curriculum. Ballet Theatre Academy recommends a certain number of classes at each technical level, but does not mandate that the number of classes, recognizing that today’s child is involved with many activities and often isn’t ready to make a full commitment to the ballet curriculum.  This provides an opportunity for children, especially in the 8 – 10 year old age, to enroll in the number of classes that is comfortable for their schedule and lifestyle.  When they choose to take additional classes, it is their decision and they are ready for the commitment necessary to become an accomplished dancer and perhaps become a dancer with Ballet Theatre  Company.
