Open House for Library Access

New equipment and software designed to help those with visual, hearing, and mobility impairments, will be demonstrated at the West Hartford Public Library.

This Open House, co-sponsored with the West Hartford Advisory Commission for Persons with Disabilities, will begin with a brief welcoming ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

The purchase of new accessibility software and equipment is funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Known as FAIR (Facilitating Access to Information Resources), the initiative is designed to expand library services in all three West Hartford Public Libraries to people with sensory and mobility limitations.

In addition to new equipment demonstrations, the program will include an exhibit of photographs inspired by "Everyone Deserves a Shot," a film featuring people with disabilities . This exhibit is a collaboration of photographer Michelle Gardella  and Sarah Rizzuto.

This program will be sign language interpreted.
