Saint Joseph College presents the 2012 Munger Lecture “Are You Your iPod? Questioning the Construction of Identity through Technology” Featuring Dr. Delia Dumitrica of the University of Calgary

Can an iPod tell us who we are? As part of the Saint Joseph College Philosophy Department’s focus this semester on the Philosophy of Technology, Dr. Delia Dumitrica will address the topic, “Are You Your iPod? Questioning the Construction of Identity through Technology.” Starting with this ubiquitous little device, Dr. Dumitrica will discuss the complicated relationship we have with ourselves and modern technologies. Are the shiny iPod accessories and the digital content we upload and consume through these devices a token of our identity? Or, should we rather question the ways in which iPods prompt us to constantly produce ourselves as technologically-savvy, constantly updated and ultimately 'cool' subjects?
