The Children's Museum hosts Home School Day

The Children's Museum in West Hartford will hold its fourth Home-School Science Education Day, dedicated to home-schooled families, on January 18th from 9:00am-4:00pm. This program recognizes and offers educational support and encouragement for children who are home-schooled and their parents.

The day includes special workshops and planetarium shows, opportunities to explore the Museum's many hands-on science and nature-related exhibits, and the chance for parents and kids to network with other home-school families.

The workshops, classes and shows are geared for children age five to 13.   Younger children can explore the lifestyle of frogs, invent a "machine" to meet a creative challenge, and learn the reasons for the seasons. Third- through fifth-graders can experiment with dry ice and the states of matter, bust some popular myths, and "sail" the Connecticut River in the planetarium. Older students in grades six through eight will embark upon the hybrid highway, unearth the secrets of ancient Egypt, and journey to the stars.
