Hall Boys Drop Close One to Fermi in Soccer Season Opener

Falcons hold on for 2-1 victory.

 jumped to a 2-0 halftime lead, and despite a late second half goal, the Warriors could not get ahead of the Falcons, losing 2-1 in high school boys soccer action Tuesday in Enfield.

Conor Glettenberg netted a breakaway goal with 13:52 left in the first half, assisted by Anthony O'Connell, then Adrian Case scored with just under two minutes remaining to provide the Falcons a two-goal margin at intermission.

David Abunaw beat Fermi goalkeeper Alex Zachary with 4:09 to play, moving Hall within one, but the Warriors were unable to net the equalizer.

Zachary, in his first varsity start in goal for the Falcons, made several nice saves to earn the victory. William Cook played well in net for Hall.

"It was a great win against a great program," Fermi head coach Jim Russell said. "We finally got the whole team together, and it showed."

The Falcons (1-0) visit Tolland Friday at 3:45 p.m. Hall (0-1) hosts Farmington Thursday at 3:45 p.m.
