Hall High School Tennis Coach Wins USTA Recognition

Jim Solomon recognized with Starfish Award for his No-Cut policy.

boys tennis Coach Jim Solomon has accrued a 462-62 record despite instituting a "no-cut" policy 15 years ago. The no-cut policy ensures that any eligible student can play on the high school team.

The veteran coach and Hall High School English teacher, who has won multiple league titles and three state championships, can add one more honor to his resume. The United States Tennis Association has recognized Solomon's success by presenting him with the USTA's Starfish Award.

According to the USTA, Solomon credits the no-cut policy as a major contributor to his success. This is not the first national honor for Solomon; he was named Boy's High School Coach of the Year by the National High School Coaches Association in 2010.
