Hall High School Track and Field Coach Receives National Honors

Sue Curnias has been selected by the National High School Coaches Association as the National High School Girls Track and Field Coach of the Year for 2011.

According to a news release from the athletic office of West Hartford Public Schools, Sue Curnias, head Track and Field Coach at , has been selected by the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) as the National High School Girls Track and Field Coach of the Year for 2011. 

Curnias has served as head coach for the Hall Girl's Track and Field team for 34 seasons.

This is not the first time she has been honored for her outstanding efforts. In 1986, Curnias was named Coach of the Year in Track and Field by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association. In that same year, her track teams won the Class L Title and State Open Title.

In 1991, Curnias was named National Coach of the Year in Track and Field for Region I. In 2005, she was inducted into the Connecticut High School Coaches Hall of Fame.

Throughout her coaching career, Curnias' track teams have won 15 league Titles in the CCIL and CCC.

Betty Remigino-Knapp, Athletic Director for , commented in the release that, “This is a tremendous honor for Sue Curnias, our team, and our school and signifies that Sue Curnias is one of the best of the best in the coaching profession.”
