Hall Students Collecting Supplies for Hurricane Sandy Victims at Football Game

Donation drive will take place at the annual Hall vs. Conard football game on Saturday.

West Hartford's annual football challenge, the Mayor's Cup game between cross-town rivals Conard and Hall high schools, will take place Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Hall High School.

The game always attracts thousands, and this year those attending are being asked to bring donations for a Hurricane Sandy relief drive being conducted by the Hall High School Human Rights Coalition.

Coalition Leader Lisa Teitelbaum said in an email that the organization will be collecting toiletries, trash bags, baby supplies, and blankets, as well as financial contributions. The Human Rights Coalition will be working with Mt. Lorreto Parish to deliver donations directly to victims in Staten Island.

"We are saddened by the damage done to our neighboring state, and we want to help as much as possible. Any support that you could offer would be greatly appreciated," wrote coalition member Nikaya Smith in an email.
