King Philip Interim Assistant Principal Named

Hall Spanish teacher Mark Grudzien will fill the role being vacated when Karen Kukish becomes interim principal at Whiting Lane.

Dr. Karen List, Superintendent of West Hartford Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Mark Grudzien will be serving as the interim King Philip Middle School assistant principal.

Mark fills the vacancy created by Ms. Karen Kukish's move to the interim principal position at Whiting Lane Elementary School.  

Currently, Mark teaches Spanish at Hall High School. His leadership responsibilities have included serving as chair of the NEASC Accreditation Steering and Assessment Committees, co-director of the Intercambrio Exchange Program (Madrid) and serving as an AP Spanish Language Exam Reading Table Leader (Supervisor).

Mark is a Hall High School graduate, received a B.A. from Colgate University, M.Ed. from the University of Hartford with additional studies at SCSU and completed his requirements for administrative certification at Sacred Heart University.

Mark views this leadership opportunity as "coming home" to where he started his teaching career. He taught Spanish for 10 years at King Philip. His enthusiasm, passion, sense of fairness and reflective nature coupled with the positive rapport he maintains with students and parents will serve the King Philip community well.
