Morley's Annual 'Backpack Brigade' Is Looking for Donations

For the past four years, Morley School has donated half of the backpacks filled with school supplies distributed to West Hartford students.

recently held its Backpack Brigade Pep Rally, rallying troops to collect backpacks and school supplies for local students. Morley hopes, once again, to supply the Town of West Hartford with over 400 new backpacks with school supplies.

With the Deparatment of Human and Leisure Services supplying over 800 backpacks at the beginning of every school year to needy students, it’s the Morley community that contributes half of those.

This is the 4th year Morley has taken on this endeavor, which continues to inspire students, families and staff to do what they can to help local students succeed.

Morley Principal Dr. Ellen Stokoe underscored how important these efforts are for students stating, “This further enables students to have authentic experiences that teach them life-long skills about taking care of each other!"

Morley will be accepting donations of new backpacks ($10-$15 backpacks are good) or a donation to purchase items. In addition to backpack donations, Morley will be accepting new school supplies including pencils and colored pencils, sharpeners, markers, pencil cases, rulers, erasers, notebooks, and folders.
