Northwest Catholic Girls Are Champs Again

The Northwest Catholic girls soccer team continues its winning streak, and takes home the Class M championship title for the third time in four years.

The Northwest Catholic girls soccer team capped off an undefeated season and extended its unbeaten streak to 40 games with a 4-1 victory Friday night over St. Joseph at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury.

NWC's goals were scored by Jessica Fontaine (2), Annie Higgins, and Bailey Julian. Fontaine was also named tournament MVP.

With the championship in hand, the Indians ended the 2012 season with a record of 19-0-1, with the single tie occuring against West Hartford neighbor Hall High School on Oct. 25. The last time the NWC girls lost was against Lewis Mills in a 2010 Class M semifinal game.

This was Northwest's third championship in the past four years.
