Owen Dawson Named National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete

Conard High School Senior Owen Dawson was informed Monday that he has received the 2013 National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award for the Northern Chapter.

The award is based on football performance, scholarship, and leadership. "
This is a very big award for him and our school," said Conard head football coach Rob Cersosimo.

Dawson was one of the captains of Conard's football team last fall and was named to the all-conference team. He is currently a captain of the boys track and field team and has previously received all-conference honors for shot put and discus. He was state runner-up twice in indoor shot put as well as in outdoor discus.

Dawson received early admission to the University of Michigan, where he will attend college next fall.

He will be honored at the 47th annual Scholar Athlete Banquet on May 19 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.
