Simsbury Principal Heading to West Hartford Public Schools

In an email sent to Squadron Line Elementary School parents on Monday, Principal Kerry Jones announced that she will be leaving Simsbury Schools after accepting a district-level position in West Hartford.

Jones will become the Director of Elementary Curriculum for the starting July 16, 2012.

"This was a difficult decision as I have been privileged to be part of the Squadron Line community and Simsbury Public Schools," Jones said in the email.

Jones has served as principal at Squadron Line for three years. She began her teaching career at in West Hartford.

"I will enter this new position knowing I have a solid foundation as well as treasured memories of my time with your children at school," Jones said.

Squadron Line has not begun the search for a new principal, but according to Jones a transition plan and hiring process will be developed and announced to parents in the coming weeks.

"In the meantime, please be assured that I am committed to working with our school staff to ensure a positive, productive end of the school year and to plan for the upcoming school year," Jones said.
