Sports Images: Hall Softball Falls to Farmington

An early eight-run deficit proves to be too much ground to make up for the Warriors.

After scoring 56 runs in their first three outings of the season, the Warriors (2-1) took the field against Farmington High School (1-1) on Wednesday. However, it was Farmington that mounted an early offensive threat, putting up four runs in the first and third innings to take a commanding 4-1 lead.

Solid pitching by Farmington sophomore Kara Gardner kept the Hall bats quiet for five innings, but by the sixth inning the tide changed. After the shaky start, Hall finally settled into their game plan, led by the pitching of freshman Elena Pevar.

A late rally by the Hall bats also helped close the eight-run gap with three runs in the sixth inning and another three in the seventh. In the end, Hall fell just two runs short of sending the game into extra innings, losing 9-7.
