Two NWC Athletes Commit to Play Division 1 Sports

Both will sign letters of intent on Wednesday at Northwest Catholic in West Hartford.

Two seniors from Northwest Catholic have announced their intentions to compete on Division 1 collegiate teams and will sign letters of intent on Nov. 14, 2012 at Northwest Catholic.

Alyssa Reaves will play Division 1 basketball at the University of Hartford with Coach Jen Rizzotti next year. She will sign her letter at 1 p.m. Michael “Mac” Crispino will play baseball at Fairfield University next year. He will sign his letter at 11 a.m.

The daughter of Michael and Benita Reaves of Bloomfield, Alyssa has been a member of NWC’s Varsity basketball team since she was a freshman. The team made it to the quarterfinals of the Class L state tournament last season. Alyssa was named All-Academic as a freshman and sophomore. She was also All-Conference and team MVP both her sophomore and junior year.

Mac, the son of Michael and Jean Crispino of Farmington, has been a member of the Varsity baseball team since he was a freshman. He was named All-Conference for baseball as a junior. The baseball team made it to the semifinals of the Class S state tournament last season and was Class S champion in 2010, Mac’s freshman year. Mac was also a member of the Junior Select All Star Baseball team in June 2012. He has also played on the Varsity football team since his sophomore year and was named All-Academic for football in 2011.

“As a school, we are very proud of Alyssa and Mac,” said NWC Principal/Chief Administrator Margaret Williamson. “They are role models for their focus and commitment to achieving their goals, and we wish them the very best of luck.”
