West Hartford High Schools Qualify for CIAC Tournaments

West Hartford's two public high schools and Northwest Catholic High School have now completed their fall regular season competitions for all sports other than football. Several teams from each school qualified for CIAC tournament play which begins Thursday for many of the teams.

Divisional championships as well as the State Open have already been held for boys and girls cross country.

The Conard boys cross country team finished 10th in Class LL, and Hall was 12th. The Northwest Catholic boys cross country team was 6th in Class SS. The Conard boys qualified as a team and came in 11th in the State Open which was held on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Conard's Edward Wilson was 7th and NWC's Brian Poirier was 8th.

The Conard girls cross country team was 14th in the Class LL championship, and Hall was 16th. The NWC girls were 10th in Class SS. In the girls State Open on Tuesday, Nov. 8, Conard's Shea Williams finished in 26th place.

For sports which begin tournament play this week, the following are the first-round tournament matchups, times and locations for West Hartford's high school teams released today by the CIAC:

Boys Soccer Class LL (@Simsbury Nov. 11, 3 p.m.): No. 10 Simsbury (10-2-3) v. No. 23 Conard (7-5-4)

Field Hockey Class L (@Conard Nov. 11, 2 p.m.): No. 4 Conard (11-3-1) v. winner No. 13 Newtown (6-6-2-2)/No. 20 Greenwich (4-6-3-2)

Girls Soccer Class LL (@Newtown Nov. 10, 2:30 p.m.): No. 27 Conard (6-8-2) v. No. 6 Newtown (11-1-4)

Girls Swimming and Diving: Diving, Thursday, November 10, 5:30 p.m. @ Hamden High School; Swimming Qualifying Round, Saturday, November 12, 11:30 a.m. @ East Hartford High School

Girls Soccer Class M (@NWC Nov. 12, 9:30 a.m.): The No. 1 seeded Indians have a first-round bye and re scheduled to face the winner of No. 16 Ellington (9-4-1)/No. 17 East Catholic (10-5) in the second round.
