West Hartford Leaders Serve ... Breakfast

Elected officials, top town administrators, executive directors of local non-profits, and West Hartford business leaders donned aprons and jotted down orders for pancakes and scrambled eggs Tuesday morning at the annual Park Road Celebrity Breakfast at Effie's Place.

As has become the tradition, local radio personality Brad Davis, of WDRC, broadcast his morning show from Effie’s, with a ready queue of guests ready to temporarily pause pouring coffee to sit in his interview chair. Tuesday morning’s guests included State Commissioner of Revenue Kevin Sullivan, West Hartford Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen List, State Sen. Beth Bye, and retiring Director of Community Service Rob Rowlson.

Many patrons ink the breakfast in their calendars months in advance, but others stumbled upon it while planning a regular morning breakfast meeting. All were patient with their “inexperienced” servers, many of whom took a break and sat down at tables to chat with the diners.

The annual breakfast, now in its 11th year, is a fundraiser for the annual Park Road Parade held each October. This year’s event had an especially poignant element - as it was dedicated to the founder of both the Park Road Parade and Celebrity Breakfast - the late Richard Patrissi, the “Unofficial Mayor of Park Road,” who passed away in March.
