West Hartford Public Schools Will Close Early Today, Exams Impacted

Northwest Catholic High School and Kingswood Oxford will also have early dismissal.

Due to the impending bad weather, West Hartford Public Schools will be having early dismissal on Monday, Jan. 28. The district will follow the emergency dismissal schedule with schools closing at the following times:

  • High schools - 11 a.m.
  • Middle schools - 11:45 a.m.
  • Elementary schools - 1 p.m.

Webster Hill Elementary School is already closed for the day due to a water main break.

All after school activities associated with the schools have been canceled for today. In addition, Elmwood Community Center and Elmwood Senior Center afternoon classes have been cancelled. For all other questions related to the use of those facilities, call 860-561-8160.

Today is the last day of midterm exams at both Conard and Hall high schools. The period 2 exam will take place as scheduled, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The period 1 exam, which was originally scheduled to take place beginning at 11:15 a.m. today, will instead be held TOMORROW, Jan. 29, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The high schools will have a normal bus schedule on Tuesday.

High school students who do not have a period 1 exam scheduled and who have their own transportation can arrive at school at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday according to administrators at both high schools.

Conard students arriving at 8:50 should report to homeroom to receive their semester 2 schedules.

Hall students arriving at 8:50 should report directly to their period 1 class.

At Northwest Catholic High School, students will be dismissed at 12:16 p.m. and afternoon activities have been canceled. The buses will operate on a half-day schedule.

Kingswood Oxford will dismiss students at 1:20 with all afternoon activities canceled as well.
