School receives honor from U.S. Secretary of Education.

West Hartford’s Bugbee Elementary School was named by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2013, according to a press release from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen List.

“The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program award recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students either achieve very high learning standards or are making notable improvements toward those standards,” the press release states. “Bugbee was nominated by Commissioner Pryor as a school where students achieve high learning standards. Through an application process, Bugbee met all criteria for national recognition.”

A recognition ceremony will be held in Washington D.C. on Nov. 18 and 19, 2013.
