The Assisted Living Community Building - What To Look For

When you enter the community, imagine what it would be like to be a resident moving around within the community. Are there long hallways? Would you be able to find your way around or is the layout of the building confusing? Be sure to check if spaces are designed to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs. If all this meets your expectations, great! But remember you are not buying real estate. You are choosing a lifestyle, including the amenities and the feeling you get from residents and staff. Many residents spend most of their time in the community participating in activities and enjoying meals together. With this in mind, the actual apartment might not be the deciding factor. If you really love a community and can see you or your loved one thriving there but the apartment you would like is not available, consider moving into another unit, even if it is not the exact unit you had in mind. Often communities have an internal wait-list for specific apartments that you can get on as you wait for what you are looking for. Next time...specific questions to ask
