Smith STEM School "Moves Across America"

This project started in the Fall as we set our sights on taking a virtual physical activity trek from the West Coast to the East coast. We climber our way into Nevada this Fall on our 50 ft. traverse climbing wall, and biked our way into Colorado with our stationary bike. The teachers and staff got on board with pedometers and logged 1,721 miles. We traveled through out the whittle equipment to Kansas and Missouri, and hip-hopped our way into Illinois and Indiana. March Madness hit as we dribbled and shot hoop through Ohio, Pennsylvannia and New York. Finally some floor hockey time brought us home across the Connecticut state line. Families are also helping us log miles on our journey. We made it home and now our trek continues as we "Rocket down" to Cape Canaveral in Florida Hopefully we will make it another 1,000 miles to the Space center! The project was created by Kathy Miller, Physical Education teacher at the school as an incentive to raise awareness of the importance of Physical Activity.
