American School for the Deaf Soccer Team Wins New England Tournament

West Hartford-based school wins tournament for second straight year.

For the second consecutive year, the American School for the Deaf soccer team won the New England Schools for the Deaf soccer tournament.

The tournament, which was hosted by ASD, was played Nov. 1 - 2.

ASD won the championship on penalties 4-3 over Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.

The Learning Center (MA)  won the consolation division against the Rhode Island School for the Deaf.  

Curtis Hayward is the ASD soccer coach who also runs the school’s culinary arts curriculum, according to a press release. Hayward has coached the soccer team for eight seasons, winning the New England Schools for the Deaf tournament three times.
