Conard Softball Stars Earn All-State Honors

Conard High School softball players Becky Hoisl and Sarah Allen are being recognized by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association for their performances on and off the field during their senior year.

Hoisl, who was a first team All-State selection as a junior, is a repeat award winner in the Class "LL" division this spring.

Allen is honored as an Academic All-State player for her play on the field and performance in the classroom.

Hoisl, who will be attending Catholic University in the fall, has been a four-year varsity starter at both second base and shortstop. She is a three-time CCC-West All-Star and is the first player in the program's history to twice be named to the All-State team. Hoisl batted .423 this season, drove in 26 runs and scored 33 times.

Allen, who carries a 4.3 grade point average and scored a 2110 on the SAT, will attend Tufts University. She is a two-time all-league catcher in both her junior and senior seasons . This spring she hit .356, scored 22 runs and knocked in 21.

Allen is also a four-year varsity starter who has played multiple positions, including left field as a freshman and first base as a sophomore. Allen is the third player in the program's history to receive the academic all-state honor. Her sister, Kelsey, received the award in 2007, while Bridget Manning was the other recipient in 2011.

Both student-athletes will receive their awards at the Aqua Turf in Southington on Monday, June 17.
