Conard Softball Wins First Mayor's Cup Trophy

Conard defeated crosstown rival Hall Friday afternoon in the first ever Softball Mayor's Cup.

The Conard vs. Hall softball rivalry rose to a new level when the teams faced off Friday afternoon at the University of Hartford for the inaugural Softball Mayor's Cup contest.

Last year was the first year the boys from West Hartford's two public high schools vied for the Mayor's Cup trophy, but this year the girls had a chance to play on the University of Hartford's field, too.

The game was sponsored by the West Hartford Amateur Softball League and the West Hartford Girls Softball League, and Conard won by a wide margin, 19-2.

Conard's record is 8-4, while Hall is 8-5.  Both teams have qualified for the Class "LL" State Tournament which begins on May 28.
