WEST HARTFORD, CT (June 4, 2012) The West Hartford American Legion baseball league will play its home opener on June 14, 2012 at Hall High School varsity field against RCP (Rocky Hill, Cromwell, Portland). Pre-game ceremonies will begin at 5:30 PM. The team will open its season June 10, 2012 in a doubleheader against New Britain. The Hayes-Velhage American Legion Post 96 has been sponsoring Legion baseball for over 75 years.
With a current membership of 2.4-million wartime veterans, The American Legion was founded in 1919 on the four pillars of a strong national security, veterans affairs, Americanism, and youth programs. Legionnaires work for the betterment of their communities through more than 14,000 posts across the nation.
The American Legion of West Hartford is open to military veterans who have served honorably during a wartime era and military personnel currently on active duty.
