Hall Boys, Conard Girls X-Country Qualify for State Open

Ari Klau placed second, while Zachary Magin was third in the state Class L championship to pace the Warriors.

Paced by Ari Klau and Zachary Magin, the Hall High boys cross country team placed second in the state Class L championship meet at Wickham Park in Manchester on Saturday.

Darien won the title with 40 points, while Hall was second with 56 points.

Klau finished second overall with a time of 16:18, while Magin was third, finishing the 5K course in 16:26.

Rounding out the scoring for the Warriors were Grant O'Connor (11th, 16:50), Christopher Ahlquist (19th, 17:24), Zachary Feiner (21st, 17:25).

The Hall boys team will take part in the State Open on Nov. 1 at Wickham Park.

The Conard High girls team also qualified for the State Open by placing third in the state Class LL championship.

Elizabeth Lagoy (3rd, 19:20) , Shea Williams (11th, 20:09), Randa Griffin (17th, 20:35), Alana Waggoner (21th, 20:45), and Margaret Byrne (28th, 20:56) were the top finishers for the Chieftains.

The Conard boys team placed 14th in Class LL, with Alec Ferguson-Hull (40th) serving as the top finisher for the Chieftains.

The Hall girls placed 8th in Class L; Alyssa Freiman led the Warriors with a 20th-place finish.
