It's Aspen Re vs. Pro Courier in the Jaycee-TD Bank Junior Championship

Rocky Hill team beats Farmington Bank in semi-finals of the junior division playoffs in the Jaycee-TD Bank Baseball League and will play West Hartford's Pro Courier on Thursday.

of Rocky Hill qualified for the championship game in the junior division of the Jaycee-TD Bank Baseball League after rallying to defeat the team on Tuesday night by a score of 7-4.

Though Aspen Re would allow three runs in the top of the second inning, the team tied the game in the third on RBI single from Tom Seaver and a passed ball before seizing control of the contest in the next inning.

Following an RBI single, shortstop Chris Bouchard smacked a triple against the left field fence, scoring two runs and effectively putting the game out of reach.

Bouchard gave Aspen Re its final run of the game with a double in the sixth inning. In addition to his exploits at the plate, Bouchard moved to the mound with one out in the sixth, as starting pitcher Tim Valliere was beginning to lose command, finishing the game with ease.

Besides a bought of wildness in the second that led to Farmington Bank's early lead, Valliere was excellent on the mound. He displayed a plus fastball and strong command.

Aspen Re, the sixth seed in the tournament, will play of West Hartford in the championship game. The contest is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. at  in Manchester.

Aspen Re Head Coach Mike Pollard likes his team’s chances in the championship.

“We’re playing better than at any point all year. The team is peaking at the right time.”   

The JCTD Bank baseball league, which was established in 1946, is considered to be one of the largest independent baseball programs in the country, according to the league’s website.
