Magic Crowned Champs of Connecticut Girls Basketball League

Team has won 52 straight games.

West Hartford’s Magic 6th grade travel team capped an undefeated season (26-0) Sunday March 4, to win the 2011-2012 Connecticut Girls Basketball League Championship.

A balanced scoring attack along with outstanding front line play allowed the Magic to defeat an excellent Cheshire team 37-23. Though trailing at half-time 9-7, the Magic led by the defensive minded guard play of Lena Proietti, Delaney Connors, and Amber Raisner, executed Coach Ed Connors and his staff of Kim Iacovacci and Kevin Roche game plan perfectly. Meagan Buyak, Abby Capone along with Olivia Cowherd and Madison Mandyck managed to outscore and out rebound a much bigger Cheshire team.

A deep and talented team, the Magic reserves managed to hold or extend the lead throughout the 2nd half. Kiana Rivera, Lexi Gellerman, along with Maitland Bailey and Maggie Venora provided all the lift that the team needed to secure the win.
