West Hartford Athletes on Campus: Binkhorst Named Player of the Week

A weekly roundup of the best from former West Hartford scholastic athletes who are now playing in college.

Maine's Women's Basketball Coaches Association has named Bowdoin College’s Sara Binkhorst (Hall High ‘11) player of the week.  Binkhorst, who scored more than 1,000 points during her four years on the Hall High girls basketball team, scored a career-high 23 points against the University of New England on Nov. 26. The Polar Bears, behind Binkhorst’s play, have a 9-0 record. … West Hartford resident Colin Bradley (Avon Old Farms ‘09), a redshirt senior on the University of Connecticut men’s soccer team, was placed on the All-Northeast Third Team. Bradley, a midfielder, had two goals and one assist for the Huskies, who advanced to the NCAA Division I quarterfinals. He was one of just four players to start all 23 games this year for UConn, which went 12-3-8. … West Hartford resident Michael Turro (Kingswood Oxford ‘13) was a freshman wide receiver on the Juniata College football team this past season.

West Hartford Athletes on Campus is a (hopefully) weekly feature that summarizes the best of what's going on with former town scholastic athletes who are now competing in college athletics.
