West Hartford Athletes on Campus: Conway Races to All-Conference Team

Michael Conway (Hall High ‘10), a senior on the George Mason men’s cross country team, placed 11th overall out of 117 runners in the men’s race at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships on Nov. 2. The top 15 performance earned Conway a spot on the All-Conference Team. It also helped the Colonials to a third-place finish as a team. Conway finished the 8K course with a time of 24:22.1. … West Hartford native Colin Bradley (Avon Old Farms ‘09), a redshirt senior on the UConn men’s soccer team, assisted on a goal in the Huskies’ 4-1 victory over SMU in the quarterfinals of the inaugural American Athletic Conference Tournament on Nov. 9. Bradley has scored two goals on top of that assist in 17 matches for the 10-2-5 Huskies, who are ranked 14th in the nation. … Jessie Ustjanauskas (Hall High ‘12), a sophomore at William & Mary women’s swimming and diving team, had a great meet against Duke University on Nov. 9, winning the 200 fly in 2:05.61, and placing second in the 100 fly with a time of 56.73 seconds. … The Wittenberg University women’s swimming and diving team had its Senior Day during a dual meet with Wilmington and Transylvania on Nov. 9, honoring the careers of five Tigers, including Molly Gustafson (Conard High ‘10). Sister Kate Gustafson (Conard High ‘13), a freshman, competed in the diving competition, taking second in the 1-meter event. … Dominique Spaulding (Conard High ‘12), a sophomore defensive lineman on the Mount Ida College football team, had three tackles, including one for a 1-yard loss, in an 16-7 loss to Maritime on Nov. 9. He leads the team in sacks with 4.5. … Sara Binkhorst (Hall High ‘11) is a junior guard on the Bowdoin women’s basketball team. Last year she averaged 6.8 points in 25 games, including 17 starts, for the Polar Bears. Bowdoin has its season opener on Nov. 15. … Alyssa Reaves (Northwest Catholic ‘13) is a freshman on the University of Hartford women’s basketball team. … Jacqueline Denver (Northwest Catholic ‘13) is a freshman on the Iona University women’s basketball team. … Zach Lewis (Northwest Catholic ‘12) is a freshman on the Canisius College men’s basketball team. He scored 12 points in an exhibition game against Mercyhurst on Nov. 6. … Former Northwest Catholic basketball player Kuran Iverson scored nine points and pulled down six rebounds for Memphis State in an exhibition game against Christian Brothers on Nov. 8. Iverson’s performance helped lift the Tigers to a 92-63 victory.
