The Best Time of Day to Study

High school senior Robert Pederson of Fairfield, Conn., learned the best time of day to do homework and to ensure success in school. What is his secret?

Our blogger this week is Robert Pederson, a high school senior from Fairfield, Conn.

Right after school, your brain is still in school mode, still in the learning rhythm. Everything you learned that day is still fresh.

I used to come home and spend hours playing video games or hanging out with my friends on Facebook, until I realized there was homework to do. This made me very stressed. I nearly flunked my way out of school.

In my freshman year of high school, I befriended a junior who was a straight A+ student. I asked him what he did to keep his grades up. He told me that after school, he would get down to doing his homework within ten minutes of arriving home. I decided to do the same.

Now I do my homework within an hour of getting home from school. I saw my grades slowly go up from C’s to B’s To B+’s. This gave me a major confidence boost. And for good reason; I was doing homework the way it should be done.

Doing homework right after school is a must. I went from a below-average student to being a straight-A student in my senior year of high school.
