Celebrate 'National Ice Cream Sandwich Day' at Blue Back Square

West Hartford's Blue Back Square is one of only four New England locations chosen by Hood for a free ice cream sandwich giveaway.

Hood Ice Cream has announced that the company will be celebrating National Ice Cream Sandwich Day at in West Hartford on Thursday, August 2.

West Hartford was just one of four New England locations chosen by the company for the celebration of one of their signature products. From noon to 2 p.m., Hood will be giving out samples of its famous ice cream sandwiches as well as coupons, and offering photo opportunities with a Hood Ice Cream Sandwich character.

“Summertime and Hood Ice Cream go hand-in-hand, and what better way to celebrate the peak of summer and National Ice Cream Sandwich Day?” said Sarah Barow, spokesperson for Hood, in a news release. “We encourage our fans young and old to come celebrate with Hood and keep that summertime spirit going all year long.”

This first annual celebration of National Ice Cream Sandwich Day will also be held in Boston, MA; Hampton Beach, NH; and Portland, ME.

The event will take place rain or shine.

Hood announced earlier this summer that three new ice cream sandwich flavors joining their classic Vanilla flavor for the 2012 season: Chocolate, Chocolate and Vanilla, and Cookies ‘n Cream.
