Conard and Hall Students Ready for Second Cape Town Exchange

West Hartford Cape Town Exchange #1

Twenty three Conard and Hall students will leave on Wednesday, Feb. 13 for the second exchange with Camps Bay High School in Cape Town.

Our itinerary will be similar to last year but this year we add a second day of touring and service in Guguletu township, and a longer trip to the Robben Island Prison.

It will be quite a temperature change as it is a high in the 80s going down to a low of 65 at night. . .

We just watched Paul Simon's Under African Skies, an A&E special about the 25th anniversary of his Graceland album.  It is a fascinating and fun recounting of his journey with great South African artists.  The documentary wrestles with the question of Simon's ignoring the ban on cultural exchanges during apartheid. The power of music shines through.

I hope my next blog post will be on Feb. 14 when we arrive, this time, NY to Johannesburg, and then to Cape Town.
