Aneeta Li Salon Hosting Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Fundraiser

Cut-a-thon will be held on April 14.

On April 14, the Aneeta Li Hair Salon, owned by Kelly Bard will be sponsoring a Cut-a-thon to benefit the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. All proceeds from all haircuts done from 8 a.m.–8 p.m. on that day will go to CCFA.

Adult hair cuts will be $20 and kids hair cuts will be $10. There will be refreshments, food and raffles provided by local establishments. Aneeta Li is located adjacent to the rear entrance to Burger Joint at 981 R Farmington Avenue in the West Hartford Center.

Aneeta Li is a full service salon. Kelly Bard and her associate Marissa Golden will be cutting hair all day. No appointments necessary. Hair will be cut on a first come, first serve basis.

"Here at Aneeta Li Salon, we love to support good causes, and get the community involved," said salon owner Kelly Bard.

The Cut-a-thon is a fundraiser to benefit the newest fundraising program for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, called Team Challenge. This is the 2nd season that Team Connecticut has participated in this event. During
the first season, 28 members of Team Challenge CT raised $130,000.

Deb and Craig Lomma are Team CT members, and Deb is a customer of Kelly Bard’s. Kelly came up with the idea of a Cut A Thon, while cutting Deb’s hair. They are very excited to be a part of Team CT and very thankful to Kelly for her help.

The mission of the Team Challenge fundraising efforts is: “To cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases”. They are looking for individual donations, corporate sponsorships and matching gifts as well as creating fun, awareness and fundraising events.

Each Team CT member is responsible to reach fundraising goals, and in return they get personalized fitness training by experienced coaches, training clinics, a supportive group of teammates, and lodging and transportation to a  half marathon. Many of the Team CT members have Crohn’s or Colitis themselves, and know first hand what the diseases are like.

CCFA is not a government supported agency, and relies on the support of members and donors to continue their research, educational workshops, symposia and creation of their Inflamatory Bowel Diseases Scientific Journal. This year, Team CT is honoring 13-year-old Aba Sam who was diagnosed with Crohn’s in the summer of her second grade year. Through the research of CCFA she has progressed greatly.
