CT Walks for Haiti This Saturday

Fundraiser, which is sponsored by Mitchell Auto Group of Simsbury and Canton, will take place at St. Peter Claver Church in West Hartford.

On Saturday, April 14 Mitchell Auto Group of Simsbury and Canton will sponsor the third annual CT Walks for Haiti in West Hartford.

CT Walks for Haiti is a fundraiser aimed at focusing attention on the needs of the Haitian people, and raising money for the projects of five established 501(C)(3) charities. The second annual event raised more than $16,000 for medical, nutritional and educational projects in Haiti.

In addition to a walkathon, CT Walks for Haiti includes a silent auction and a festival featuring a 15-piece steel band playing traditional Haitian music.

Dealer spokeswoman Jill Mitchell from Mitchell Auto Group and Nancy Pelletier, director of CT Walks for Haiti will host the event at , 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. The MC is Joe Furey of Fox 61.

Mitchell's will demonstrate a variety of brands the dealership represents, such as the all-new 2012 Subaru Outback and 2012 Volkswagon Passat.

Registration is 10:30 a.m. for the walk, which goes from 12 to 2 p.m. The silent auction, music, crafts made by Haitian artists, and food items such as beans and rice, run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

One of the silent auction items is a Boston Red Sox ticket package that includes four infield grandstand seats and watching two innings from the WEEI radio booth.
