Miracle League Breaking Ground

Hundreds gather to celebrate groundbreaking for new accessible baseball field at UConn complex in West Hartford.

Public officials, families and baseball fans gathered together on Sunday, June 19 at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Miracle League of Hartford's future baseball field. The rubberized surface field will be built this summer as part of the existing UConn complex on Trout Brook Drive in West Hartford.

The wheelchair-accesible field will be the first of its kind in New England, and will be adaptable to other sports such as soccer. West Hartford residents Mike Michaud, Ronit Shoham, and Scott Franklin are the principal founders of the Miracle League of Hartford. Teenager Marcus Apter has also been instrumental in raising thousands of dollars for construction of the field.
